Pumpkin Soup

: by Lady Erin Langford

Food not just for Pigs Munch Munch I absolutely love Pumpkin soup it’s so simple to make you could definitely do this on a weeknight after work and save leftovers for a lazy day. I always use a variety of pumpkins in order to give depth of flavour to this soup. This soup is super filling, especially if you make it to pass my fork test (ie you can scoop it out with a fork with no drips).     Makes […]

Chai Tea

: by Lady Erin Langford

Or Tea Tea, because Chai means Tea. Munch Munch I find Chai Tea really comforting, like a warm hug in a cup. So I thought it was about time that I had a crack at making my own. I got the recipe from the About.com site and changed the method about with my own knowledge of Indian Cooking, ie heating the spices before adding to the milk/sauce etc. This makes quite a tea-y Chai, next time I make this I will double […]

The Medallion Hotel, Hanoi

: by Lady Erin Langford

Phavourite Pho in all of ‘Nam Munch Munch I was quite surprise when concluding our trip around Vietnam that my phavourite pho would be found in Hanoi (The Medallion Hanoi, 11 Ma May, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi), in my hotel restaurant at breakfast no less. Only because if you read the guidebooks, the south has the best reputation for food.     I tried Pho in hotels, on the street with the locals, and in popular tourist spots and comfy looking Vietnamese restaurants. […]

Sesame Wombok Crunchy Noodle Salad

: by Lady Erin Langford

Open Sesame! Munch Munch Munch My partner’s Mum makes this Crunchy Asian Noodle Salad all the time and it is just amazing. So very easy, so very tasty and oh my lordy so very munchy! Such a simple recipe that everyone will love. If it’s just the two of you prep everything and set aside half the cabbage mix leaving out half the nuts, noodles and dressing for the next day you serve it up (prevents serious sog factor).   […]

Born Again Weiss Bar

: by Lady Erin Langford

Munch Munch I recently bought a massive tray of mangos because they were on a bulk buy special. And the thought of eating 14 mangos before they went bad was a little daunting so I gave myself a challenge to create a new dessert with them…and then it hit me, mango, ice cream…Weiss Bar!! A Summer favourite sorbet popsicle that Aussies love to eat, purchased from the corner shop on a hot day. So I deconstructed the Weiss Bar to […]

Potato Salad

: by Lady Erin Langford

Munch Munch I just adore eating potato salad with BBQ’ed food and made it myself for the first time on the weekend. Very happy with the results, in fact I wouldn’t change the recipe – first time luck I guess. BTW everyone at the BBQ loved the salad and there was none left in the bowl. To make it vego just omit the bacon :)     Makes enough for hosting a BBQ, lets say 10 small side serves – […]

Spring Vegetable and Risoni Soup

: by Lady Erin Langford

Munch A simple vegetable soup perfect for cooler Spring evenings. It’s so variable just add the vegies that you like or follow mine exactly below. The fact that nothing really has to be prepared nicely means it’s really quick to prep and cook. The risoni added to the soup helps in thickening up the thin base with it’s starchiness.       Serves 4 (Main Meals) dash olive oil to saute 1 large brown onion, roughly chopped 1/2 head garlic, […]

Baked Beans on Toast

: by Lady Erin Langford

Munch Munch Bacon and eggs can get a little dull after a while so why not try something a little different for breakfast like beans on toast? This is a really cheap and easy breaky that you can make on mass. It’s also easy to make it vegetarian, just drop the chorizo from the mix.             Serves 2 4 slices of bread, toasted. I use Country Life Low GI Dash of Olive oil 1 Chorizo, sliced […]

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pho Ga/Chicken Pho

: by Lady Erin Langford

Pho Sure! From Goop. Munch Munch Munch I was reading Gwynee Paltrow’s Blog Goop (I’ve subscribed to her Newsletter) and there was a phabulous recipe idea for leftover turkey, so I tried it with a BBQ Chook from the grocery store. When cooking the stock my kitchen just smelt so fricken amazing I couldn’t wait for those 20 excruciating minutes of simmer time to be up. This is the best Pho hands down to make in your kitchen in under thirty […]

Creamy Mushroom Bacon Fettucini

: by Lady Erin Langford

Mushroom and Bacon love in a bowl Munch Munch Munch I‘ve never met a person that does not like a creamy pasta sauce. Ever. The best bit about this one is it’s low cal in the fact that I used a light evaporated milk rather than a light cooking cream, as it has about half the energy value but gives the same creamy taste and texture. Plus it’s in a can so you could probs do this “glamping”.   Serves […]

Lamb Roast

: by Lady Erin Langford

“Sorry Tom. Mum’s making Lamb Roast” Munch Munch Munch I love lamb. It’s been zonks since we’ve had roast so I thought I’d do something different with meat and three veg. The herby crust on this lamb is just so wonderful I could eat nothing else but a good girl eats her veggies too.     Serves 4 1 Kg Lamb shoulder 4 tbs dry mixed herbs Salt Pepper 2 tbs olive oil 2 medium potatoes, roughly chopped 3 handfuls […]

Pho Bo/Beef Pho

: by Lady Erin Langford

Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup Munch I got this recipe from That’s Life! magazine and tried it out as it looked like a really quick and easy recipe for Beef Pho. It was actually a recipe submitted by one of their Readers, Polly Hemming from the NT. I made it exactly to the instructions (as far as flavour of the soup broth goes) and added a few other bits to bulk it out a bit, I have a huge appetite. The whole […]

Spicy Mediterranean Gnocchi

: by Lady Erin Langford

So good, in our house it’s called Nookie! Munch Munch So simple, great if you’re on a budget and really tasty, what’s not to love? And if you’d love to make a Vegetarian Mediterranean style Gnocchi simply drop the bacon. This dish won’t take more then 15 minutes to prep and cook :) Note that this is not a recipe to make the actual Gnocchi ball things from scratch I’ll tackle that at a later date.       Serves […]

Maggie Beer Citrus Tart

: by Lady Erin Langford

Recipe by the Grandmother of Australian Cooking. Munch A tasty little lemon tart. Although the original recipe wasn’t gluten free I tweaked the sour cream pastry base a little with Orgran Gluten Free Plain Flour, and I gotta say it’s the easiest and best base I have ever made, it’s so velvety smooth and easy to work with. A very light treat and not that citrusy if truth be told, but a delight all the same.   Serves 6 Sour Cream […]

South Western Quinoa

: by Lady Erin Langford

Munch Munch I came across this really interesting sounding recipe via Twitter feed by Cooking with Quinoa author Wendy Polisi (@cookingquinoa) after she started following me (@munchglutenfree) and my mouth started watering instantly! Made the recipe within a few ours of the discovery and had to substitute a few bits due to availability in Australia, the only thing I will change next time with regards to flavour is to add fresh coriander leaves, as I reckon it will really help […]

Veggie Fettucini Fusion

: by Lady Erin Langford

Coconut cream with mediterranean and asian veggies with a hint of chilli Munch or Munch Munch (with salmon) This is a really tasty little dish. It’s kinda like Italy meets Thailand I suppose in its fusion of flavours. I normally make this with either fresh salmon fillets or a 400g tin of salmon however I dumped the fish this time round, so its vege instead.    Serves 2 Olive Oil 1 brown onion, finely diced 1/2 head garlic, crushed 2 tomatoes, roughly […]

Arlington’s Fruit Tapioca

: by Lady Erin Langford

Munch Munch Now all I’ve done is scooped it outta the punnet but the clever chaps at Arlington’s have created a tasty gluten free snack from tapioca pearls, coconut cream and fruit juice. It’s quite a small container so I like to savour it over two sessions and I’ve found it stocked in my local IGA in Newtown and Alexandria but their site lists other locations along with markets. Unfortunately for some it’s only available in Sydney and Melbourne. My […]

Munch Munch Munch Nailed it.                 Serves 4 300g pumpkin, roughly chopped 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary 4 slices of shaved pancetta, torn into pieces Spray olive oil Salt and cracked black pepper 1 lge onion, finely diced 1/2 head garlic, crushed 1 1/2 cups Arborio rice 1L chicken stock, heated (it’s a good idea to have up to an extra 300 mL handy just in case you evaporate the stock too quickly, […]

Chilli Jam

: by Lady Erin Langford

Pump up the Jam! Munch Munch Recently my local Asian Grocer closed down, I was devastated as they sold the best chilli jam, I have since tried many different cheap and gourmet types and come up nothing short of disappointed so in true Munch Munch Munch style I decided to try to make some at home. Rather successful it’s thicker than store bought varieties and actually has the texture of strawberry jam. I am pretty happy with my first attempt […]

Cafe Bones

: by Lady Erin Langford

The friendliest, doggiest cafe in Sydney. Munch I love hounds. All my nearest and dearest know I just adore the four legged creatures so when our friends Mia and Dave invited us along to Cafe Bones (Leichardt, Sydney Australia) for Brunch, I thought why not, it’s about time I did a wee review on this blog.         Cafe Bones a small kiosk cafe by a canal in inner-west Sydney and its pooch friendly! Paella del Marisco

: by Lady Erin Langford

Munch To be frankly honest, it looks fabulous but I don’t think that I will make this particular Paella recipe again (I got it from Frank Camorra, Chef of Movida who shared his recipe on the SBS food site). Due to being on a budget I didn’t put all of the seafood ingredients in from the original recipe, but if this dish could’ve been anymore seafoody I don’t reckon I could’ve eaten it. I know it’s daft to call a […]

A can't remember a time when food hasn't been a part of my love of life. In fact part my very first memory is of my Nanna's Carambola tree in Darwin age 2-3. Since then it was sharing an Avocado with Mum and squishing the leftovers of the skin onto our faces for a free mask in Cairns age 7. Climbing Mango trees with my best friend Rachael in Mareeba aged 11. Scoffing three plates of Spaghetti before school athletics carnivals ages 10-17. Sucking the life out of tin of Sweet Condensed Milk as a little girl. To tell you the truth I still do this ;) Savouring my first Ham and Mushroom Croissant in Paris near the Musee D'Orsay age 24. Chomping down on my first Diddy Reis on my first trip to the USA age 25. Discovering via accident that finely shaved Garlic atop soft Brie is the best cracker combination ever Age 26. Eating everything off the street in Vietnam and consuming Pho for two weeks straight age 29. Munching on Cheese and sipping Moet Chandon in the Yarra age 30. Appreciating my first Veuve Cliquot after a show in Los Angeles age 31. So what I am saying is so many big moments of my life are in someway connected to food. I may not remember the names of the all the people I met but I will more than likely remember the kinds of food I ate at the time and be able to describe them to you in more details than you want to hear. So here on Munch Munch Munch is my love of food in all it's glory. A shame I didn't start documenting earlier.
