I love munching out and about as much as I do in my own home. It’s great, they cook and clean and you can walk away perhaps feeling inspired to make something similarly tasty at home. Though at times it can be a challenge finding a tasty spot that does great GF food, because as much as I love them, sometimes eating salad after salad gets boring. So I’ve complied a list that I will continue to add to with Restaurants/Cafes/Pubs that have Munchy food and GF options.

Book if you can. Great spot in the middle of warehouses and a wonderful large outdoor courtyard with herbs and chickens. GF bread available. However their Breakfast item of Soft boiled eggs rolled in crunchy quinoa served with grilled asparagus is divine.

The best Pho, actually Vietnamese in Sydney. Great quality, fresh ingrefients without the Sydney pricetag. Super friendly staff who will go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one. Go to dish, Crispy Chicken Pho – Phomazing for your belly!

Centennial Park

This cafe is in such a lovely spot, surrounded by some of the most beautiful gardens in Australia, you forget you’re in the middle of Sydney. They have a great variety of breakfasts, love the baked beans with ham hock and GF bread is available. However the service here is nothing short of rude and lacking in efficiency. So when you go, just know you’re going to wait and all should be well. Walk off the bacon by taking a wander through the parklands and feed the swans.

Cafe Schenkin Munch Munch
Although they don’t stock GF breads for you to eat at breakfast time, they don’t mind if you bring your own and will toast it for you. My favourite Breakie is the Shakshuka. Eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce. The salads are ginormous and coffee is always great. Dinner, starts when I walk past in the evenings and the waft of garlic and spices really smacks you in the face (in a good way) and ends with tasty meat kebabs (a variety to pick from) and the best ever jacket potatoes with creamy mushroom sauce. Don’t walk away without trying the chocolate egg for a sweet treat.
Although it’s not advertised this family friendly restaurant has a wonderful gluten free pizza base, that’s thin and crispy. It comes in a Medium size and the Pizzas are always fresh and hot. My Favourite is the Mexican, no Olives. There’s street dining and inside seating too. They also deliver.

Cafe Bones Munch
The owners claim it’s the world’s first truly dog friendly cafe, a true delight if you own a dog and want to go out with friends and know your pooch is welcome and there is dog friendly treats on offer including a Pupaccino! Salads and Naked Burgers are on the menu (it’s limited) along with fabulous coffees and desserts.

Organic breakfasts with GF Bread available. Always tasty and reliable. They have a selection of cakes and there’s generally a GF item in the sweets counter. Good Coffee. Cute tree-y courtyard outback.
Dumpling King Munch Munch Munch
Although the dumplings aren’t GF :( They make a spectacular Chicken and Vegetable Noodle Soup, on the menu as Hand Made Noodles I always ask for Rice Noodle and I’ve never been refused. It’s really basic but so tasty. Cheap cheap Eat (9.80) and huge serving.
Moo Burgers Munch Munch Munch
Love a good burger and these guys have GF Burgers buns available for a small surcharge. My favourite is definitely the Big Moo (I always ask for pineapple on the side, mixing genres too much for me)! I’ve tried a few others and the Piri Piri Chicken Burger is pretty tasty too, but I can’t go past the Big Moo, my partner on the other hand never orders anything other than the Wagyu Beef Burger. My only criticism is the GF Buns are smaller than the meat patties and the ingredients so you really do make a mess of yourself – not a first date venue ;)

Surry Hills

El Loco Munch
GF Tacos and Quesadillas, cheap eat and the corn chips and guacamole are scrummy. Great colourful spot if you’re out having a few drinks. Though the music is super loud so you can’t hear anyone beyond the person sitting next to you.
The Shakespeare Munch Munch

Brilliant Pub Grub. Great value for money the meals are freakin huuuuge and only 12.50. My fave is definitely the Lamb Shanks (2 meaty ones!) on a bed of mash with salad. Do not eat downstairs for the full experience go up to recline in wing back chairs and chester loungers along with deer heads and chandeliers.

Located smack bang in the Old Quarter this little four star hotel is a gem. The friendliest staff who are only too happy to help with…everything. The Pho served in their restaurant is the best I came by in all my munching in Vietnam and the Chef is only too happy to oblige crazy breakfast ideas.
Rainbow Restaurant  Munch
Easy walking distance from the Hoan Kiem Lake, this little restaurant with keep your feet out of the street and serve up mild Vietnamese dishes that anyone can enjoy. Budget and Tourist friendly, the staff are attentive and the food comes out quickly. Best chicken satay skewers, ever.
37 Hang Hanh, Hoàn Kiếm, Hanoi Ph. 0439288399. Restaurant is open 7 days.

Hoi An

Hai Cafe, Restaurant, Bar & Grill Munch Munch
Our favourite town or area to eat in Vietnam was Hoi An, everything we ate there was amazing, from the street food to the restaurants. Hai Cafe is really fabulous. Lots of GF friendly items on the menu, set within a traditional Vietnamese house, with a large courtyard outback it’s just fabulous. Service is efficient and tourist friendly and the food was great. Would thoroughly reccommend to everyone. And they also run cooking classes.
Two entry points: 98 Nguyen Thai Hoc St or 111 Tran Phu St (the back courtyard has it’s doors open so the restaurant receives customers from both sides).
